Pearson Global Employee Engagement

Designing an inclusive illustration universe that helped Pearson humanize its global employee benefits making every worker feel seen, valued, and part of something bigger.

As Lead Creative for Pearson’s internal benefits program, I developed a comprehensive illustrations that translated complex HR content into an engaging, human-centered visual language. Working closely with an illustrator, we crafted a a series of illustrations, visuals where every character and scene reflected the diversity of real employees across ability, race, gender, and sexuality.

Over the course of a multi-year retainer (2021–2025), the system evolved into a recognizable visual signature for Pearson’s global communications.

Pearson, a global leader in education, sought to reimagine how its employee benefits were communicated across its international workforce. Internal materials ranging from healthcare guides to professional development resources were text-heavy and inconsistent in tone. The brand wanted a design solution that could unify the experience, spark recognition, and express the warmth of a company built on learning and care.

Employee benefits are often complex, administrative, and emotionally distant. Pearson’s goal was to simplify information delivery while also celebrating its diverse workforce. The visuals needed to embody inclusivity and accessibility not just in representation, but also in readability, clarity, and tone.

Each illustration would live across multiple contexts, PDFs, intranet pages, onboarding kits, global HR portals. The design system had to flex across scale and region, all while aligning with Pearson’s brand identity.
